We’re Whitefish Bay Residents — Just Like You

Who We Are

We are a group of engaged parents and community members who believe deeply in the value of strong public schools and the role they play in shaping our community’s future. Our mission is to provide clear, accurate information about the upcoming school capital referendum and why this investment matters for our students, neighbors, and village.

We believe that informed communities make the best decisions — and we’re proud to support a thoughtful, transparent plan for our schools’ future.

This effort is 100% community-driven. We are volunteers who care about safe, modern learning environments, responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars, and long-term planning that benefits both current and future generations. We know strong schools are essential for academic excellence and property values. Our goal is to help voters understand the needs behind the referendum, the solutions being proposed, and the impact this investment will have on our schools and community. Strong schools build strong communities.

Yi Wei & Kailyn Gee

Yi and Kailyn are parents of two boys, one at Cumberland and one at Lydell preschool. Kailyn grew up in Whitefish Bay and graduated from WFB HIgh School in 2004. After a decade on the West Coast, she finally convinced Yi to move to WFB - for the community and for the public schools, though Yi says it’s really because of the sidewalks and big trees. Yi grew up outside Philly and is also a benefactor of public education. He enjoys understanding systems and digging into data and after learning more about Wisconsin’s school funding system, he’s motivated to work to change it. Yi and Kailyn firmly believe the schools are the heart of WFB and strongly support the investment in our community, now and for future generations.

Caitleen Kahn & Zachary Kaplan

Caitleen and Zak both grew up in Whitefish Bay and graduated from WFBHS in 2009. After 14 years away, they moved back to be closer to family (both sets of parents continue to call WFB home). Their older daughter is just beginning her school journey with the wonderful faculty and staff at Cumberland. Caitleen served on Facilities Advisory Committee, where she became engaged in the needs of the school system. She is also on the executive board of the Cumberland PTO. Both Caitleen and Zak are passionate about reinvesting in Whitefish Bay and making it a great place for all the students in our community.

Brett Christiansen

Brett Christiansen and his wife Liz are long-time residents of Whitefish Bay, both graduating from WFB High School in 2004 (Go Dukes!), when Brett was valedictorian. Brett is a strong believer in public schools, joining the WFB School District School Board in 2017. He currently serves as Treasurer of the School Board, though his advocacy for voting Yes on the referendum is in his capacity as a private citizen and does not represent the District or the School Board.
Brett and Liz's two kids currently attend Cumberland and WFB Middle School. They know first-hand the amazing impact our teachers and schools have on our kids and our community. Brett believes that investing in our public schools today will ensure that their impact continues long after his kids have left the District.

Anne Kearney

Anne Kearney has lived with her husband Joseph and their children in Whitefish Bay for over 20 years. While her sons have graduated from the District, they continue to benefit from the outstanding educators and the supportive learning environment of Whitefish Bay schools. Anne has a law degree from Harvard Law School and serves as a clinical professor. She served on the Whitefish Bay School Board for 12 years.
